The Benton Franklin Humane Society is located in Kennewick, Washington. Our office and shelter location is 8620 West Gage Blvd., Kennewick, Washington. Turn north at the intersection of Gage Blvd and Grandridge. We are the building on your left just past the Sonic Drive-In.
The BFHS Shelter currently has 11 dog kennels, 9 puppy pens, and 18 cat cages. Depending on the size and temperaments of the animals, we can hold at most 12-15 adult-sized dogs, 9-30 puppies, and up to 30 cats or kittens.
Room for animals is not the only consideration. We must be able to control disease as well as show the animals in an environment that is conducive to their adoption. The shelter also contains a medical room, isolation room, storage, two offices, a staff break room, public lobby, and a meet-&-greet room where potential adopters can spend time with an animal away from the kennels and cages.
The shelter also has several utility, laundry and storage rooms, plus two rental storage cells a few blocks away. All of the rooms are very small and there is little parking, hence the current capital campaign to build a new shelter.
